Walks in Spain
The base for self-guided walking holidays is the family run Hospederia El Palen in the old medieval quarter of Segorbe. El Palen is a recently refurbished bakery and oil mill that packs plenty of character, charm and taste.

There are eight en-suite rooms with television and telephone, some of which have their own balcony with views over the rooftops to the distant mountains. The hotel's cosy lounge area is crammed full of curiosities and antiques, and it has the best cellar restaurant in Segorbe offering a wide selection of delicious home-cooked dishes.

Segorbe is a historical medieval town that lies between two nature reserve mountain ranges, making it an ideal location for walking.

The mountain ranges of the Sierra Calderona and the Sierra Espadan are considered to be the best walking areas in the region. With the heart of Segorbe on your doorstep, you are just a short walk from the town's many bars and restaurants, as well as its palatial 16th century town hall, the 13th century gothic cathedral, the executioner's jail in the Botxi towers, the remains of the old fortification in the pine tree forest and the endless springs and fountains along the river Palancia.
