| Day 1 |
Arrival
Day
After being personally collected from Valencia airport
you will be taken to Hospederia El Palen in the
medieval town of Segorbe. You will be given a welcome
pack containing information on Segorbe, local restaurants,
nearby points of interest and route notes and maps
for the self-guided walks. An evening meal is provided
at the hotel restaurant which serves a wide selection
of the finest local tapas. |
|
Day 2 |
Guided
walk through the "throat" of the river
Palancia - optional
A circular walk of contrasting beauty takes you
through the throat of the river Palancia before
climbing through fragrant pine tree forests with
mountain views as far as the eye can see. This is
followed by a traditional meal with wine in a local
restaurant, during which you will have an opportunity
to ask your guide for more information about the
area. |
|
Day 3
|
Cascades, railways
and rivers: a self-guided walk
This is a circular walk from the hotel that takes
you through the tunnels of an old disused railway,
over a dam, along a river gorge with cascades and
deep pools of water and beneath the dramatic hanging
houses of Navajas. Oranges, Sharon fruit, loquats,
cherries, walnuts and hazelnuts can be freshly picked
along the route. This is a real treasure of a walk.
|
|
Day 4 |
Self-guided walk along the
monastery trail
A circular, flat walk from the hotel follows the
trail to a 14th century monastery, with the chance
to stop for lunch in the village of Altura. This
is a perfect walk for discovering the historical
and medieval town of Segorbe. |
|
Day 5 |
Valencia free day
Enjoy a day free from walking to
explore the city of Valencia. With its contrast
of the historic and the modern, this must-see
city truly excites the senses. Be sure to
take in the cathedral, world famous City of
Arts & Sciences, breathtaking beaches,
tranquil river park, varied museums and buzzing
café street life - not to mention its
sophisticated shops. We will supply you with
a map and details on what to do, where to
go and places to eat, and transfer you to
the heart of this fascinating city to ensure
that you make the most of your visit. For
more details see the Valencia
City page.

Day 6 |
Guided
walk - a "corker" of a trail - optional
This is a circular guided walk with options to extend
the route if you're feeling particularly energetic.
It takes you through the natural park of the sierra
Espadan with its extensive forests of cork oaks,
under spectacular overhanging rock formations, past
old mines to an 18th century icehouse, from the
roof of which you will be able to admire the stunning
sea views in the distance. A traditional paella
lunch completes a truly memorable day.

|
Day 7 |
Self-guided walk or excursion day
to Sagunto's Roman castle and amphitheatre
Should you prefer to visit the Roman castle and
theatre in Sagunto, you will be provided with an
information pack which contains details of how to

for lunch. Alternatively, you may wish to end the
week with one more self-guided walk. A farewell
dinner is laid on at the hotel restaurant - your
