Valencia city is a real gem; a combination of
the old and new, a unique 6 kilometre long park
that follows the route of the old River Turia,
and a warm, welcoming, very comfortable Spanish
feel to it.
Valencia is a city that benefits from having everything
at hand.
 |
Once you have found your
bearings you’ll find that most places
are within easy reach on foot, for example,
the historical buildings in the centre, the
Central Market with nearly 1000 stalls set
in a fine art deco building, the cathedral,
the Lonja (old silk exchange), the barrio
del Carmen (the old quarter), the ceramics
museum, the museum of fine art, the IVAM (museum
of modern art), the botanical gardens, the
Malvarrosa beach, the Port America’s
Cup… the sites are endless! |
Alternately you can take a stroll along the old
River Turia park taking in the spectacularly modern
City of Arts and Sciences, the imposing Opera house,
the Palau de la Musica, the Oceanografic aquarium
(the largest in Europe), and the numerous bridges,
old and new, that cross the park.
| A tourist bus also operates
from the centre and takes a comprehensive
ride through the narrow streets of the old
quarter, the city centre and the new city
of arts and sciences with various stop-off
points on route. Valencia city never stops
adding to the list of spectacles on offer,
the latest attraction being the home to the
European Formula 1 Grand Prix street circuit
in autumn. |
