The Tui start follows the traditional route up through Spain and usually takes 8 days. Viana do Castela start follows in part the Litoral sea front route, then the Coastal route followed by a riverside variant that joins up with the traditional route at Tui and takes 11 days.

If you are limited on time but would still like to experience some coastal walking in Portugal we can plan an itinerary that lets you experience the Portuguese coast and misses the less interesting parts of the traditional route by using taxis (you would not be eligible for the Compostela).
